NEWSLETTER SPRING 2005
......................................................................................................................

Dear Friends,

The syllabus for the coming months is enclosed and as you can see we will be visiting some old favourites and one or two we haven't seen for a while. It hasn't been an easy task for our programme compilers trying to find places to go that are suitable for A B and C walkers in the same area, also having to remember if there is access for the coach.

During the last three or four months we have had new members joining the Club, and we welcome them, and hope they continue to enjoy the walks and tell their friends about us.

For years and years the Club has been known as The Fylde CHA/HF Rambling and Fell  Walking Club and was affiliated to Countrywide Holidays Association. In October 2004 special resolutions were approved to wind down the Association, which means that there is no longer an organisation to be affiliated to. The Club has never been affiliated to HF holidays because it doesn't hold any shares.

Now all this has been discussed by the Committee and they feel that it could be the time for a change of title. FYLDE COAST RAMBLERS  is the short and snappy title we will be presenting to you, at the AGM in October, for your approval.

In the meantime if you have any comments on this historic piece of news, and would like the Committee to discuss them, please write to the Secretary, do not telephone, all comments have to be in writing with a signature.

Our thanks go to Alan Peacock for organising the weekend to Glaramara in April, it was an outstanding success. Good food, good company and good walking. On Saturday morning there was snow on the hills with the sun shining down the valley, a magical sight. A return visit in 2006 is already being talked about by those who went this time. We know it is returning to the same place every year, but what is wrong with that, when we have a perfect weekend assured. Provisional dates for next year are 12th to 14th May 2006.

Geoff Nelson is currently taking names and talking to interested people. If you haven't been with us yet, give it a try, it's a
beautiful part of the country.

Both our booking Secretaries will be standing down at the AGM. If you feel you are able to give a little of your time to help your walking Club, please contact the Secretary.

Previously known as The Fylde CHA/HF Rambling and FellWalking Club.
NEWSLETTER AUTUMN 2004
......................................................................................................................

Hello again! another AGM gone by and another year older. It is all change this year following the AGM with some members retiring and new members taking their place. Please take note of the changes.

The new booking secretary for Saturday will be Eunice Mcguire, she will be taking over from Jurdy Stott. Jurdy is still staying on the committee, but now she will be able to relax a little, after taking bookings for the last ten years. She has done an excellent job and it will be difficult to think of Saturdays, without thinking of Jurdy. Eunice will not take over until the new syllabus.

Another change is the replacing of Norman Cowell as the booking secretary,  with Alan Hunter.  You will remember from the last newsletter that Alan is our computer wiz. This change takes place
immediately. Norman has been membership secretary for the last nine years, he has done a superb job, very meticulous, and always well presented. He also will be staying with the committee.

The third change is Anne Bingham is retiring as treasurer after five years, and Christine Taylor will be her replacement, with immediate effect. Anne will not be staying with the committee, she wants time to relax a  little, and hopefully get attention to her hip as soon as possible. We all wish you well, and thank you for your years of commitment as treasurer, and look forward to seeing you on the 'flat' walks.

Carols Thaw has retired from the committee as social secretary. Now Carole has been the social secretary for 23 years arranging the social events of the Club. She recalls, as I'm sure many people do, the days of dinner dances, social outings etc which were an important part  of the running of the Club. However Carole has offered to arrange some summer walks, especially a historical tour of Stanley Park. Carole was thanked for her long service to the Club, and was made a honorary life member.

The final change is Peter Fullalove becomes our new Vice-Chairman, and he has handed over the position of auditor to his wife Joan.

Finally, as you can see from the syllabus, we are short of B walk leaders. The Club belongs to it's members, and we would like you to become involved with the running of the Club. We cannot always rely on the 'old brigade' to keep leading the walks. New leaders! new walks! new ideas!  We look forward to hearing from you.

Dear Friends

Another successful six months are coming to a close with the dark nights almost upon us.  We have had a successful year, not made a fortune, but then that doesn't matter as long as we break even and enjoy ourselves.

After years and years being our Sunday booking secretary Terry is taking a well earned rest and coming out to enjoy the walks without having to sort out the money. We are very grateful to her for doing the job she has done for so long. We are still looking for someone to fill her shoes. If you feel you would like to take on this vital job please let us know. The booking has been taken over by the general secretary, for the time being.
We also must thank Eunice who sadly is leaving us. Eventually she will be making a new life for herself in America. Ron Wright has taken over the Saturday bookings.

We welcome all the new members who have joined us this year, and those who have stayed with us, so we must be doing something right.

The new title "FYLDE COAST RAMBLERS" is now up and running as you will see on the new syllabus. Geoff Nelson is in the process of getting some new advertising posters printed, and if you are able to display a poster at your work, or your local paper shop, please speak to the Secretary.

Alan Hunter has been working away for the last six months improving our internet web site, and we're very grateful to him for putting in so many hours on behalf of the Club, because now we are beginning to get new members via the web site. Also the improved website has many new features for you, the club members.
1. A forum for discussion and chat about anything to do with the Fylde Coast Ramblers and walking in general.
2. An online syllabus, with coach pick-up places and times.
3. A new links page. Giving links to other rambling/walking related websites.
4. An improved photographs section. Complete with space for members photographs. See pictures of yourself and send in digital photographs for other members to view.

To view the new club website, just type www.FyldeCoastRamblers.co.uk in your web browser and press enter. If you haven't got a computer at home try your local library or internet cafe.

Geoff Nelson has booked GLARAMARA again for the 12th 13th & 14th May 2006 and a good weekend is assured. Maybe this time we will be able to drink a glass of wine on the patio. If you have booked for this weekend away, the balance of the full cost MUST BE PAID TO GEOFF BY THE 31ST JANUARY 2006.

Walk leaders are still needed; you will see that in general they are still the same people leading. So if you feel that you would be able to lead a walk, (perhaps with some assistance at first) please talk to Peter Fullalove or Norman Cowell they will be most grateful, and give you any advice you need.

Finally, and I'm writing this in capitals, so you won't forget SUBS ARE NOW DUE. If you don't renew by 31st Dec 2005 you will be asked to pay £5.00 instead of £3.00.
You have been warned.
